Young Justice Invasion (Season 2)

Just a few quick notes about this Saturday's Young Justice episode; first of all, it was another solid episode.  This is seriously one of the best animated shows I have seen in a long time.  I liked the fact that the show went forward in time 5 years and some of the characters have progressed.  Dick Grayson is now Nightwing and Tim Drake is the new Robin, Superboy and Ms. Martian are no longer a couple, Zatanna is now a Justice League member, and there are now several new members of the Young Justice team.

On to Dr Fate.  He has a very brief appearance on the episode and I debated for a while to whether or not to add this appearance to the list I have compiled, finally opting to not include it as I have not included other small cameos on the list.  I have included other short appearances, but those appearances have had Dr. Fate on screen for more than a mere few seconds or they had some significance (i.e. Dr. Fate getting inducted into the JL).  However, since the show has gone forward into the future 5 years, it makes me wonder who is under the Helm now?  Is Zatara still Dr. Fate?  Or has Nabu chosen a new host?  I hope this gets explored in future episodes.  Until then, here is a couple of GIFs I found on the internet of this past Saturday's Dr. Fate appearance.  Enjoy!

Fun Friday Post

LOL...introducing Dr. Fat.  Since he hasn't seen much action since the beginning of the New 52, Dr. Fate is a bit out of shape and gained a few pounds.  Art work by Dov Torbin

Alternate Justice League Dark

One of the best things to come out of DC's new 52 is Justice League Dark.  Here is some artwork by Eddy Newell featuring many of DC's magic characters that would make an awesome alternate Justice League Dark.

Dos de Mayo is almost upon us! Earth 2 News!

May 2nd is rapidly approaching, bringing with it the epicness of the new Earth 2 comic debut!  DC has provided us some new art work from Nicola Scott and a quote from her stating:

“EARTH 2 is a big step in a new direction for me.
“I haven't previously had many opportunities to work on a truly epic scale but working with James [Robinson], on some of his favorite characters and in our own alternate Earth Two world, is providing me with that platform.
“Everything is up for grabs, nothing is for certain and it will slowly reveal itself over the coming months. James is creating a great balance between action and drama and I have the great pleasure of bringing it to life.”
- Nicola Scott

I honestly cannot wait for these books.  I'm definitely excited!

Young Justice Auld Acquaintance Episode (some spoilers)

Today's Young Justice episode was another great one.  Dr. Fate had another small, non-speaking role, but something interesting happened when he was knocked out by the cure for the bio-weapon Vandal Savage conjured up with the help of other villains.  It would help to explain that the team was able to make an anti-virus of sorts that reversed the brainwashing effect the biological weapon had on the JL, but once delivered it knocked out whoever was infected.  Back to the interesting part with Zatana--when she noted that Dr. Fate was out cold she took the opportunity to try and get the Helmet of Nabu off of her father's head.  However, when she tried she was shocked by electricity that was obviously a safeguard.  When she realized that she could not get the helmet off, she said something to the effect of (and I'm paraphrasing here) "I can save Fate from Savage but I can't save my dad from Fate."  I can't wait until Nabu finds a more suitable candidate to wear the Helm so Dr. Fate will stop been portrayed as a sort of malevolent force for good.  I want Dr. Fate to be a good guy.  Don't get me wrong, like I said before, I love the fact that he gets so much attention on the show, I just want him to be a good guy.  Is that so much to ask?

Dr. Fate gets inducted into the Justice League

Dr. Fate racks up another YJ appearance today, albeit a brief one, as he is inducted into the Justice League.  Dr. Fate is shown both in the beginning and in the end of the episode with the rest of the Justice League.  He did not have a speaking role today, but perhaps next episode.
