Dr. Fate and Green Lantern Battle

This is from one of the old JSA stories where GL gets hypnotized by the Psycho-Pirate, and he and Flash battle the JSA.  Wonder if we'll be seeing this match up in the upcoming Earth 2 comics as well as in the upcoming Injustice Video Game.

Sculpture Helmet of Nabu

This piece is absolutely fantastic.  I wish that the artist, darkasylum, could mass produce and sell this piece.  It just looks so great.  I would love to have this for display in my home.

Dr. Fate Racks Up Another Young Justice Appearance!

If you missed today's episode of Young Justice, you missed another episode of one of DC comics' best animated shows.  Not only that, but you missed out on another Dr. Fate cameo.  As a rule, I don't add cameos to the Dr. Fate screen appearances list unless it has something significant to do with the good Doctor (i.e. saving the world from being destroyed last week, or getting inducted into the Justice League).  So keeping with that tradition, I will not be adding this cameo to the list but thought it should be noted.

However, I am going to break my own rule and will be adding Dr. Fate's cameo in the background of a fighting stage in Injustice Gods Among Us, because he so rarely makes it into games.  Also, I still have hope that he will be a playable character, if not initially, hopefully later on as part of DLC.

Happy Valentine's Day from ToF

Hope everyone has a good Valentine's Day.  To highlight today's special holiday here is a great panel from the JSA special All-Star issue written by Darwin Cooke.  I think Kent and Inza's relationship is probably one of the best in comics.  Both of them have given so much of themselves for a cause.  Kent gave up his childhood and basically his life to be Dr. Fate, and Inza basically gave up her chance at a normal life for her love of Kent.  For the most part, Inza was basically trapped in the Tower while Kent went out and saved the world.  In the beginning of the relationship, she was more of a partner to Kent's Dr. Fate but eventually she became his nurse when he would come home hurt from battling the demons of Chaos.  Eventually she went on to become Dr. Fate herself, but later the power was restored to Kent.

So here is to these two souls who are forever fated to be together.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Dr. Fate Breaking News

Ed Boon just tweeted the following picture:

The good news is that Dr. Fate will be making an appearance in Injustice.  The bad news, it looks like he may only be a background character for one of the stages.  Let's hope he is an "unlockable" character and we are able to play with him in the game.

New Dr. Fate Images, News and Random Thoughts

Ok, lots of stuff I want to touch on today...let's start with this awesome image that was released yesterday from Earth 2 #10:

It's a close up of the new Helm of Nabu with Khalid reaching out to it.  I love that Brett Booth added decoration to the Helm because if it truly is an ancient artifact, then it would have some sort of decoration on it.  Makes the helm look that much more awesome.

Ok, so moving on to the Earth 2 solicitation for May.  The cover looks amazing, the new Dr. Fate design is just bad-ass:

Info from the solicitation:

EARTH 2 #12
Written by JAMES ROBINSON
Art by NICOLA SCOTT and TREVOR SCOTT
Cover by BRETT BOOTH and NORM RAPMUND
1:25 B&W Variant cover by BRETT BOOTH and NORM RAPMUND
On sale MAY 1 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T
The drums of war begin to sound as the heroes of Earth 2 rally behind Dr. Fate—and a threat from Apokolips becomes all too real!

CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS!  Wotan and Dr. Fate once again engaged in battle.  Looks absolutely fantastic.

Lastly, I wanted to add some thoughts about my review of Earth 2 # 9.  Although, I did say I was disappointed in not seeing Khalid don the Helm of Nabu in that issue, after stepping back I gotta say that it is really awesome that James Robinson is taking his time to develop Khalid's, Nabu's, and Dr. Fate's character.   As a fan, I am so happy to have an entire arc dedicated to the [new] origin of my favorite character and am glad that I have three more months dedicated to Dr. Fate.  Can't ask for more.

Earth 2 #9 Review

*WARNING THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS*

I have mixed feelings about this issue, mostly because it wasn't what I expected so it left me a bit disappointed.  However, that is not to say that it wasn't good.  It was actually a really well written issue that continues James Robinson's building of Earth 2.  And to be fair, in a tweet, James told me not to get too excited as this was more of a prologue.  However, I was hoping to see Khalid Ben-Hassin (we now know his last name) don the Helmet of Fate and become Dr. Fate.  That did not happen in this issue, and judging by the upcoming covers, it may not happen until # 11.  So Fate fans, hang in there, he is coming!

So let's get to the good parts of the comic!  We get to see Sonia Sato (Judo Master) for the first time as an officer in the World Army, and she even takes out the Flash with a high side kick, which was awesome.  We also get a glimpse at the new Tower of Fate which is located in a realm of magic, and that Khalid refers to as Nabu's Realm.

The Tower has more definition now and has a very ancient look to it.  I like it, makes it look like more of a temple and hence more mystical.  We also meet Wotan for the first time.

Sorry about the pictures, but photobucket is being an asshole and not letting me edit them.  Anyhow, I also have mixed feelings about Wotan's new look.  I like that they got rid of the hair horns, and instead made the horns as part of the cape, but I wish they had kept the facial hair.  Don't see the need to make him look younger.  As part of his reveal, Wotan says that he is part of an organization seeking to augment its control over magic, leaving one to wonder who or what this organization is?

Another cool thing that happened in this issue was having Wesley Dodds wear his iconic hat and trench coat, even if it was for just one panel:

Again, sorry about the pictures, blame photobucket for not letting me edit.

Now for the things that I didn't like; apart from being disappointed at not actually seeing Dr. Fate I thought the issue was really well done.  It moved along quickly and had a fair amount of action with a huge reveal at the end.  The one thing that bothers me a bit is Khalid's contempt of Nabu.  I understand Kent Nelson's and Hector Hall's contempt because there was history there, but Khalid was recently chosen.  I understand him being afraid, but feel like the contempt is a bit premature.

All, in all it was a good issue.  James Robinson seems to be building up the suspense and lore of Dr. Fate so when he finally appears, his presence will be that much more significant.

Count Down To Dr. Fate

One more day till the reintroduction of Dr. Fate into the DC Universe, and the Dr. Fate news continues to come at us fast and furious which is great for us Fate fans!  So within the last month, to month and a half, we've been informed that Dr. Fate will have his own shorts on DC Nation, he will also have at least one more appearance on Young Justice, and now just yesterday, Ed Boon tweeted out this blurry photo teasing Dr. Fate as a possible character in Injustice Gods Among Us:
Along with that photo , Boon also tweeted the following video stating "What else could this be?": Terminator No Fate But What We Make

If Dr. Fate is indeed in Injustice Gods Among Us that will be awesome.  Since it looks like Injustice is loosely based on the classic Kingdom Come, I wonder what team Fate will be on?

Lastly, I'd love to see Dr. Fate trending on twitter tomorrow, so if you could help let's this great character to trend!  Use #DoctorFate tomorrow when discussing his first appearance in the New 52 tomorrow.
